The following are some highlights of EUCLID's work in the past few years:
-
An extensive seminar programme which has, in the last 2 years, encompassed over 20 cities across the UK and over 1,000 participants
-
A range of consultancy and research projects in the creative and cultural industries, the development of cultural policies, the review and evaluation of cultural initiatives, and on assessing opportunities for EU funding
-
Research for the European Union, including evaluation of the Kaleidoscope & Ariane programmes (predecessors to Culture 2000), of the film & TV sector in Europe, and others
-
Authoring the chapter on EU funding in the recently published definitive study, "The UK Cultural Sector: Profile & Policy Issues"
-
The development of on-line databases -- Culture Match, ACRONIM, Culture Tracker -- to enable information to be easily available to the cultural sector across the world
-
A significant increase in awareness of EU funding opportunities within the UK cultural sector, and a specific increase in the number of UK organisations participating in the Culture 2000 programme
-
The organisation of major European cultural conferences: including Bigger Better Beautiful in Budapest in February 2002, which explored the impact of the enlargement of the European Union on culture (in conjunction with the Budapest Cultural Observatory and the Hungarian Cultural Contact Point); and A Working Culture in London in May 1998, which focused on employment in the cultural industries
-
Extensive work in central & south-eastern Europe: an ongoing working relationship in Bulgaria, from the establishment of the Euro-Bulgarian Cultural Centre with support from the EU, to work with the Council of Europe on developing creative enterprise initiatives; a feasibility study in Kosovo to explore opportunities for cultural information services; and presentations in six central & south-eastern European countries to help promote the Culture 2000 programme
-
Presentations at international conferences and seminars across Europe, and in the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Latin America
