Quotes

“I learnt that I am a poet.”
Holly, age 8, Pilton the Bluecoat Junior School, Sept 2006

“I liked it when the writer came in as it inspired me to write. I liked to write before but stopped and then she came in and helped me to like it again.”
Year 7 boy, Tiverton High School, Sept 2006

“The project is now part of the Tiverton High School scheme of work. It has increased staff confidence in talking about writing and in taking new approaches to writing at school. Prior to the project 40% of year 7 were at level 3 (National Curriculum) in Writing. After the project 69% of that 40% is now at level 4. This has been achieved through a whole raft of interventions, but Inspiration Aspiration Partnership was a springboard for this.”
Cindy Torn, Assistant Head teacher at Tiverton High School, Sept 07

“I wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed the 3D dance performance on Sunday. It was like stepping back in time as you have retained all the ‘inclusive’ elements which we fought hard to establish in the early days of 3D. So many children (including my grandson) have been given the ‘chance to dance’ because of it. Long may it last and thank you for taking it on.”
Wendy Collin, 3D A Chance to Dance founding team, March 2006

“It was an inspiration to listen to a group of such animated speakers – thank you! Interesting ideas and thoughts to take back to our own classrooms and feed back to colleagues. We have many thoughts to think!"
early years teacher at the Art to Start training day, Jan 2006

“I enjoyed the project because it is an important and interesting privilege to work with people who know about filming.”
student, age 15, Paignton Community College,
Animated Exeter schools’ workshops, Autumn 2005

“All expectations were surpassed. I came away buzzing with ideas and achievable goals.”
artist at Forkbeard Fantasy INSET day, Feb 2005

“I felt so excited all night because I knew I was going to take my shoes off in the clay.”
reception class child, Ilfracombe Infant School,
Art to Start, March 2006

“I learnt millions. It was absolutely brilliant.”
pupil, Lydford Primary School,
multi cultural arts week, summer 2004

“I feel good about showing the scenes I’ve created, it’s embarrassing if it’s not good but you can make it good by making it funny and interesting, you make it good by working at it; everyone else liked what I’vecreated…... it makes me feel proud of what I’ve done.”
Pupil, The Tutorial Unit PRU , Treadz project, summer 2004

“I would love to do it again. After I had done this my new wish is to be an artist when I grow up.”
pupil, Tavistock Community Primary School,
mosaic workshop, Nov 2005

“Very enjoyable and productive workshop. Highly professional and suitably focussed.”
teacher, Tiverton High School,
Animated Exeter schools’ workshops, Autumn 2005

“The artist was wonderfully prepared, was good with the children and was ‘hands on’. He made it very easy for the staff to undertake this project.”
teacher, Cockington Primary School,
carnival workshop, Nov2005

“Following the years [my son] has attended your project he has grown as a young person, he is more confident around other kids, and has been able to enjoy participating in music, which in turn has led him to have a renewed self belief in terms of work at school, and his recent achievements at school."
quote from a parent’s letter to the Wren Trust,
Transitions project musicians, Dec 2006

“All aspects were very well organised, very high standard of performance and excellent venue. Great support, always a friendly voice at the end of the phone – many thanks!”
teacher, Landscove C of E Primary School,
3D A Chance to Dance, 2006

“Their verdict? The children loved everything about it—the gory story, the participation, the activities and quizzing actors about their work on stage and in television. Bloody Ambition? Bloody good. Encore!”
head teacher, Bovey Tracey Primary School,
Bloody Ambition project, autumn 2004

“Thank you. You’ve inspired me to continue dancing. My time at DYDC has been exhausting, exhilarating and well worth it. Won’t forget it!”
Devon Youth Dance Company member, age 15, 2005/06
