Arts in Education

The Forge: County Durham and Sunderland's Arts in Education Agency

The Forge is the Arts in Education Agency for County Durham and Sunderland. The Forge is committed to creating and promoting participatory arts projects that are courageous and contemporary, involve artists of the highest calibre and challenge perceptions of arts educational activities.

Established in October 2000 The Forge has delivered and supported projects involving more than 28,000 young people and attracted over a £1,500,000 worth of additional funding to help support the arts and education in County Durham and Sunderland.

The Forge:

  • Develops and manages projects.
  • Organises and delivers training and CPD.
  • Provides information and advice to schools and artists.
  • Develops and works in partnership.
  • Advocates for the arts in education.

The Forge is supported by Arts Council England, Durham County Council and Sunderland City Council.
